The Whitewater Awards is a platform that highlights and showcases the best in the world of whitewater kayaking from freestyle, big rapids, waterfalls, expeditions and river stewardship. The Awards are peer voted by the world’s most elite whitewater kayakers to honor the cinematography, photography and athleticism in the sport.
• WATER IS LIFE •
As a community, we are empowered by those out there behind the scenes helping make the important decisions to protect our environment for future generations; inspiring us to get involved so we can help make an impact for the future of our beloved sport. During the live event that is held in conjunction with the Whitewater Awards, we commemorate some of the brave fights being fought around the world to save our free flowing, pristine rivers. Below are some links to just a few of the worlds most pressing issues highlighted by our whitewater community:
• The fight to keep Nepals last major free flowing river dam free, here: Nepal River Conservation Trust in an interview where they were voted 2021 River Steward of the Year.
• The San Rafael Falls disaster in Ecuador, following paddlers on an expedition through the new gorge after the collapse of the falls and just weeks before the collapse of the arch.
